The Reading Public Museum, located in Reading, Pennsylvania, was founded by Dr. Levi Mengel in the early 1900's as a hands-on museum for students of the Reading School District, opened its doors to the public in 1913, and started welcoming visitors at its current location in 1929. The mission of the Reading Public Museum, a dynamic center of lifelong learning and discovery, is to educate, enlighten and engage current and future generations through the collection, preservation and interpretation of objects of art, science and civilization.
